When you’re a kid, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. While it’s of the greater importance to understand that this is, first and foremost, the celebration of the Savior’s birth; for children, it’s just as much the legend of Santa Claus. After all, “Santa Claus” is a corruption of the Dutch “Sankt Nicklaus”… Saint Nicholas. He’s always been important for children; not only as a giver of gifts, but a moral figure as well. Children come to put aside the fun concepts of reindeer and chimneys as they grow older- naturally. We all put aside childish things in the proper time. But the true lessons of what Christmas means- which old St. Nick ideally helps to deliver- need to be remembered. Wise parents use this in the guidance of their children.
